Vineyard Notes
The Langhorne Creek region of Australia treads a hazardous path between baking hot inland winds in summer and cool winters, all with scarce rainfall. This wine is made in an old-fashioned manner now seldom seen. Its vines receive their nutrition and water via annual flooding of the Bremer River which deposits fine alluvial soil, fertilizing the vineyards. Distinctive lots are harvested and vinified separately. The best batches are blended and matured in French and American Oak hogsheads for a year before bottling.
Food Pairing Notes
Australian Malbec produces dark, full-flavored wines begging to be consumed with grilled red meats. Savor this ripe red over a steak dinner! Malbec is also a fabulous accompaniment to grilled pork, pasta dishes and spicy cheeses.
