Frizz-aunt-tay (It's just fun to say!)

Take your wine enjoyment to the next level with Moscato d'Asti, the perfect introduction to the effervescent (also called "frizzante") dessert wine.

If most of the wine you drink is prior to a meal or with a meal, you're not alone. But dessert wines offer an elegant, satisfying and often unexpected culmination to your dining experience. Clear the dinner dishes away and make room for Moscato d'Asti, one of our most popular dessert wines.

Think of the Vallebelbo as an approachable Champagne-like drink. Sweet and low in alcohol, it is categorized as a "frizzante" ... not fully sparkling, but instead offering a refreshing spritziness. Its subtle citrusy taste is perfect with milder desserts that aren't overly sweet. With a low alcohol level (roughly 6%, not 12-14% as with most wines), it makes a nice ending to a meal without going over the top.

It is a unique showstopper for any host, especially at a brunch, as many wine lovers have never experienced it. You'll be the star whenever you serve it, especially given it won a double Gold award at the 2010 San Francisco International Wine Competition.

Mix it up!

Moscato d'Asti is great on its own, but it also makes a marvelous mixer. Learn how to create drinks that put it to use on our blog.

Tasting Notes

Pale with golden reflections, it boasts the trademark fragrance of mandarin orange along with extremely fruity aromas and flavors of guava and lychee.

Perfect for the wine lover who ...

Prefers a gentler fizz than is offered with Champagne, and a sweeter flavor.

If you like this wine ...

You may also like the Robert Mondavi 2009 Moscato d'Oro (NAP983). The palate's plush, abundant stone fruit flavors are complemented by shades of orange and spice and cleansed by a refreshing, citrusy finish. 19.99/bottle

Vineyard Notes Piedmont, literally, “at the foot of the mountain”, produces some of the most outstanding sweet wines in the world from the Muscat grape. The Asti region is also known world-wide for its production of spumante.
Food Pairing Notes Best paired with slightly sweet desserts, nothing that would overpower the wine, Moscato d'Asti works magically with angel food cake, puff pastries, fruit tarts, and fresh strawberries, mangos or melon.
